A 9-day privately guided safari in Botswana to discover the best parks: the Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Reserve, the Makgadikgadi Pans, and Chobe National Park. Overnight stays are in lodges except in the Okavango Delta and in the pans during the dry season, for a truly amazing experience!
Upon arrival at Maun airport, you will meet your local guide and transfer to the lodge. Once a dusty village of huts, Maun has become a bustling, chaotic, and prosperous city. You’ll pass through the city center and continue to the shores of the Okavango Delta.
Today you’ll embark on an excursion into the heart of the Okavango Delta, accompanied by our local guides in mekoro, the traditional boats used by the local people. The delta’s water levels are constantly changing, so the best location for camp and walking safaris will be chosen accordingly, offering a unique experience.
After a morning walk and breakfast, you’ll return to the mainland, gliding across the calm waters of the delta. Your guide will be waiting for you to proceed to the Moremi Game Reserve. In the afternoon, you’ll embark on a safari in an open vehicle with an expert local guide.
Morning and afternoon safari in Moremi on an open game drive vehicle. The reserve, located in the northeastern Okavango Delta and established in 1965 to prevent the devastation of hunting, is home to elephants, buffalo, giraffes, hyenas, wild dogs, leopards, cheetahs, antelopes, and hundreds of bird species.
After a morning game drive and breakfast, you’ll say goodbye to Moremi and return to Maun. In the afternoon, you can take a microlight or helicopter flight over the Okavango Delta to enjoy a different perspective of the delta (not included). Dinner will be on own expense at one of the town’s restaurants.
After breakfast, you’ll set off to reach the Makgadikgadi Pans, the salt pans that are dry and arid for most of the year. During the rainy season, the pans fill with water and attract thousands of waterbirds, pink flamingos, herds of zebras, wildebeests, and antelopes.
November to April Program:
In the afternoon, you’ll visit the eastern section of the pans to enjoy a spectacular sunset at the Nata Bird Sanctuary.
May to October Program:
We’ll travel deep into the pans until we reach the camp, where we’ll admire the vastness of Africa with a spectacular sunset. Dinner around the campfire and the starry night will be unforgettable.
After breakfast, you’ll begin your journey to Kasane and your lodge. Time permitting, you’ll embark on a first afternoon safari in an open vehicle to Chobe National Park with an expert local guide (if you arrive late at the lodge, the game drive will take place on the morning of the next day).
Morning game drive on an open safari vehicle to Chobe National Park with an expert local guide, followed by an afternoon safari cruise on the Chobe River, where you’ll see elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and a large variety of birds.
The vast plains and grasslands, acacia and mopane forests, and dry and wet swamps provide the ideal habitat for immense herds of elephants. Few places in the world can rival this park for the sheer variety and abundance of its wildlife, which includes not only elephants but also lions, leopards, cheetahs, jackals, buffalo, zebras, wildebeests, antelopes, and many antelopes.
After breakfast, your guide will take you to Kasane airport in time for checking in to your flight back home. There is the possibility of adding a few extra days to visit the Victoria Falls either in Zimbabwe or Zambia, quotations on request.
