This 6-day safari will take you to wild and unspoiled places like Mana Pools and Lake Kariba. With your professional private guide you will paddle your canoe in the mighty Zambezi River, spoil elusive cats and other animals in the remote Mana Pools National Park, and cruise Lake Kariba, the world’s largest artificial lake.
Meet our local guide either in Victoria Falls or Livingstone, and depart driving along the T1 road to Kafue. Your journey will then lead you south to reach the shores of Zambezi river, where you will set up the camp for the night.
After breakfast, you’ll embark on a canoe trip on the Zambezi, a truly unique experience. There’s no better way to spot animals in this area than by silently approaching in a canoe. The canoes are 5 meters long, stable, and the trip is suitable even for those who have never canoed before. Elephants, hippos, and other African mammals are easily spotted. After returning to the camp and relaxing, you’ll take a sunset safari cruise on the river until dusk.
After breakfast, you’ll set off to the Zimbabwe border, crossing which you’ll reach Mana Pools National Park, a wild and remote area, far from the common tourism routes. This UNESCO World Heritage site is known for its large herds of elephants, buffalo, lions, and shy leopards, and is home to one of the largest concentrations of wild dogs in Africa. You’ll take an afternoon game drive with your guide before setting up camp for the night.
You’ll take a morning and afternoon game drive with your guide in search of the park’s wildlife. With its rare combination of topography and vegetation, Mana Pools offers some of the best game viewing, thanks to its location along the Zambezi River.
Today you’ll leave Mana Pools and head to the shores of Lake Kariba. Here, the Zambezi River has been dammed by man, a dam which is considered the largest in the world based on the size of the lake it created. You’ll board the ferry that will allow you to cross the entire length of the lake, enjoying the wonderful sunset from a different perspective.
After sunrise on Lake Kariba and breakfast, you will dock and continue your journey towards Victoria Falls or Livingstone, where the tour ends.
